The Ghana Police Service says its Special Operations Team (SOT) arrested 41 suspects during an intelligence-led operation at Lapaz and Chantan on 15 October 2026.

According to the police, the operation was conducted at about 12:00 noon and targeted criminal and narcotics-related activities in the two areas.

The police said the suspects comprise 35 males and six females. A search conducted on the suspects and within the operational areas led to the retrieval of quantities of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances.

All 41 suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with investigations, the police said.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the source, ownership and intended use of the suspected narcotic substances. The police said appropriate legal action will be taken against any suspect found culpable.

The suspects have not been convicted of any offence, and the allegations remain subject to investigation and due legal process.
